Opportunities for children from low-income families

PRIVILEGE 1. According to the Appendix to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 318 dated July 26, 2001 "On the provision of educational loans for studying at higher educational institutions on a paid-contract basis," educational loans are provided to citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, their parents or guardians, who are admitted to higher educational institutions for studying on a paid-contract basis. Educational loans are provided for up to 10 years for undergraduate students and up to 5 years for master's students, considering the duration of study in higher educational institutions. Military service time is not included. For students from low-income families, 50% of the interest accrued on the loan is paid by district Employment and Social Protection Centers from the State Employment Support Fund. PRIVILEGE 2. Free education and preferential admission to graduate programs. In Uzbekistan, it was announced that the state will cover the cost of women's education in graduate programs.

Education Benefits

  • Starting from the new academic year, the full payment for women's education in graduate programs will be covered by the budget (200 billion soums for 23,000 women).
  • Every year, 50 girls will be sent to prestigious foreign universities for undergraduate programs, and 10 girls for graduate programs.
  • In each region, 150 girls from low-income families or who have lost their parents (a total of 2,100 girls) will receive funding for education contracts from the local budget.
  • Female students with young children will be allowed to study remotely.
  • Every year, at least 300 targeted quotas for doctoral programs will be allocated specifically for women.
  • At least 50% of quotas for female students will be allocated specifically to disciplines in the fields of exact sciences, engineering, and law.
  • From the new academic year, interest-free loans for 7 years will be introduced to pay for education for women studying in universities, technical schools, and vocational schools.

PRIVILEGE 3. The student aid project. In order to support the education of these young people, children from families included in the "Iron Register" and young people aged 18 to 30 years included in the "Youth Register" are studying at higher educational institutions on a paid-contract basis. The project is aimed at covering annual expenses. It was launched by the Youth Affairs Agency on October 18, 2021, in accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers resolutions No. 250 and No. 450.

Recipients of Contract Payment

  • Children from families included in the "Iron Register";
  • Graduates of orphanages and boarding schools;
  • Minors left without parental care and placed under guardianship;
  • Children from single-parent families;
  • Children from families where at least one breadwinner has a first-group disability or both have second-group disabilities;
  • Youth with first or second-group disabilities;
  • Youth who have served sentences in correctional institutions;
  • Children from families included in the "Unified Social Protection Register";
  • Youth whose parents are pensioners or both have reached retirement age;
  • Young married students;
  • Children from families where two or more children are studying on a contract basis.
